Strategy and HR Executive Vice President / Akbank


Burcu Civelek Yüce is Strategy and HR Executive Vice President at Akbank since May 2014. She joined Akbank in 2006 as a Strategy Manager. In 3 years she was promoted to Vice President and Senior Vice President positions. She led her team in shaping the bank’s strategic roadmap, managing transformation programs and carrying out projects on almost all fronts of the bank. Now Yüce leads a comprehensive transformation program called “NextGen Akbank” and the cultural renewal journey, preparing the Akbank for the future.

She started her career at A.T.Kearney as a management consultant. She participated in strategy, reorganization and restructuring projects in various sectors, in Istanbul and Paris Offices. She moved to Strategic Planning at Siemens Business Services where she worked on strategic roadmap of the company and business development activities such as the first certificate authority of Turkey and shared ATM outsourcing of banking sector.

Later she became responsible for financial modeling of IT outsourcing projects throughout the business development and sales cycles, for local and global customers in Istanbul and Munich Headquarters.

As one of “50 Most Effective CHROs of Turkey” elected by Fortune Turkey twice in a row, Yüce also acts as a Board Member at e-payment company AkÖde and Akbank AG, a bank in Germany.

Burcu Civelek Yüce has a B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering (2000) and an Executive MBA degree (2005) from Boğaziçi University, both of which she earned as ranking 1st of her class. She attended corporate strategy and organizational renewal courses at Harvard Business School and was a special student on game theory at Koç University for one semester. She is one of the first members of IIF Future Leaders and 30 Percent Club Steering Committee. Besides that she is the 3rd term mentee of the Women on Board Turkey.
